Maxon PT999 offers smooth phasing that enhances your instrument's character rather than masking it.

With its single knob, the PT999 Phase Tone looks deceptively simple. Yet packed into this tiny blue box is a host of the most authentic 70's-era phasing effects available in a current production unit.

Description

4 stage phasing circuitry offering 720 degrees of sweep from 0.2 to 14Hz cycles/sec. It is the same as it was in 1974.
The FET's Toshiba #2SK246 are thoroughly hand-picked to produce the smoothest phase sweep with low noise and minimum distortion.

The secret behind the PT999's timeless tone lies in the fact that its circuit is exactly the same as it was when first introduced in 1974. While many "reissue" effects are far from true to the original designs, Maxon has taken great pains to keep the Phase Tone unchanged for close to 40 years.

By adjusting the lone Rate control, a wide variety of expressive phasing nuances can be coaxed from the PT999 - all of them whisper quiet and amazingly transparent. Its minimalist circuit doesn't get in the way of your guitar tone - it simply accentuates it, working equally well to spice up clean or distorted sounds.

If you demand classic phase shifting effects without compromising your guitar's signature tone, the PT999 Phase Tone has no equals.

Brand

In 1969, Maxon became an effects pedal manufacturer, primarily as a producer of OEM products for other companies. During the 1970s Ibanez became one of the company's main OEM customers. Maxon designed and manufactured the now legendary TS-808 and TS9 Tube Screamers for Ibanez, and many other models, including the FL9 Flanger, CS9 Chorus, and AD9 Analog Delay. The brand also marketed its pedals under its own Maxon name during this time. When Ibanez parted away in 2002, Maxon began to more aggressively market its own line of pedals. Repositioning itself as a manufacturer of high-end mass-produced effects, Maxon expanded its line of analog pedals, using rare NOS components and classic circuit designs that are to this day highly respected and sought after. The company prides itself on a reputation of quality over quantity.
