Elixir NanoWeb Coating
Elixir® Strings are available in two different 'flavors'. Both feature the same patented protection and deliver the same extended life, but differ in tone and feel.


What's the difference between NANOWEB® and POLYWEB® coatings?

The difference between our coating 'flavors' is found in the tone and feel of the strings. NANOWEB® coated strings sound and feel like uncoated strings - they are bright and lively, and the coating is so micro thin that you can barely tell it's there.

POLYWEB® coated strings have a balanced tone and smooth response - they sound like strings that have been 'played in'. In addition, POLYWEB® coated strings feel comfortably smooth and help reduce finger squeak.

Too slippery!

No, these strings are not for me! A lot of people really like them, but I don't!. First of all, the Nanoweb coating makes them feel very slippery under my (left-hand) fingertips. I thought I could maybe get used to this, but after three weeks I've given up. I have several guitars, and the others are fitted with standard, uncoated strings, so I could easily compare them.
Also, they sound too bright and 'metallic' for my taste, but I suppose this is to be expected from 80/20 strings.
Anyway, this is just my opinion.
