To achieve the faithful overdrive sound, Warm Audio uses carefully selected components in the Centavo , including TL072 operational amplifiers and high-quality diodes that deliver the characteristic clean boost, edge of breakup and hard clipping tones. Staying true to vintage pedal design, the Centavo circuit is housed in a custom cast gold enclosure with carefully reproduced “Oxblood” tone controls. Centavo has three simple controls on the front panel – gain, Treble and Output, just like the original. In addition to the original tones you expect from a vintage pedal, Centavo also features a “MOD” switch on the back. In the "up" position, the switch activates a modification made famous by Jeff Beck that boosts the bass response by changing the value of the high-pass filter. Overdrive Pedale sind natürlich immer eine persönliche Geschmacksfrage!
Der Ceantavo von Warm Audio war für mich sofort 1. Wahl und der absolute Favorit – Geschmackssache klar! Aber der klang am vollsten und, der Name ist Programm, auch am wärmsten!
Man kann ihn als reinen Booster verwenden oder aber als Overdrive. Er verbiegt nicht den Frequenzgang deines Amps, sondern lässt ihn so klingen, wie er klingt. Er fügt einfach nur schöne warmklingende, harmonische Oberwellen dazu, die in der Intensität mittels Gain-Regler sehr sanft und dezent dazu gemischt werden können! Selbst vor meinem Diezel verbessert er den Sound, indem ich den Gain-Regler des Amps runter drehe und stattdessen ein paar Oberwellen des Centavo dazu mische! Damit ist man einfach näher am Griffbrett oder mit der Gitarre einfach näher am Amp! Der Sound wird gefühlt „schneller“…
Die Verarbeitung, auch innen, ist absolut super!
Eines, was ich aber bei fast jedem Pedal vermisse, ist, dass die Leuchtdiode in einer eingeschraubten Metallfassung stecken sollte, damit, wenn man mal drauf treten sollte nicht gleich die LED eingedrückt wird …aber das ist Jammern auf höchstem Niveau ;-)
