Yamaha DXS 18

With the DXS18, Yamaha is expanding its active DXS subwoofer series with a new model. Based on the design principles of the DXS12 and DXS15 subwoofers, the DXS18 comes with a revised housing, improved DSP processor, new protection functions and an even more effective crossover. In addition to more power, the DXS18 also has several new functions that make it suitable for use in larger and entirely professional environments. Powered by a 1020W Class D amplifier and the 18'' woofer including a robust 4'' voice coil, the DXS18 delivers an impressive maximum level of 136 dB SPL. The extended bass reproduction of the bandpass housing down to 32 Hz impresses with exceptional clarity and minimal distortion even at high levels. With Yamaha proprietary DSP technology, you now have even greater control over your DXS18 setup. The integrated X-SUB processing offers three selectable modes - NORMAL, BOOST and XTENDED LF - as well as a crossover frequency that can be selected in three steps (80/100/120Hz) for a wide variety of applications. In setups with two or more DXS18 subwoofers, the newly developed Cardioid mode also ensures an effective reduction in the bass level on the stage side while simultaneously increasing the level in the audience area. Advanced protection circuits for the subwoofer's speaker, amplifier and power supply units ensure optimum reliability and service life, while the housing is additionally protected against external influences and signs of wear by the extremely durable LINE-X paint. In addition, the DXS18 offers a double socket for 35mm spacer rods with and without M20 thread for additional flexibility in speaker configuration. The optionally available roller kit also increases the mobility of the subwoofer. Yamaha also offers an optional speaker cover to protect it from the weather when used outdoors, dirt, long-term storage and rough transport "on the road".
