Korg Handytraxx Play

The handytraxx play is a portable turntable with numerous performance options, developed by KORG in close collaboration with Toshihide Nakama, the former president of DJ specialist Vestax. It is based on the basic idea of ​​the Vestax handy trax: to create a portable turntable for DJing and scratching that can be easily taken anywhere – thus laying the foundation for the portablism scene that continues to grow today. The handytraxx play takes this concept and expands it with numerous new features that allow you to deliver complete DJ performances with it alone, without the need for additional equipment. This is made possible by additional integrated effects, filters, and a versatile on-board looper. The handytraxx play features an integrated speaker and can be operated completely wirelessly using batteries if desired. Its playback speed can be conveniently switched between 33.5, 45, and 78 RPM. The smooth crossfader was specially optimized for scratching and enables comfortable cuts with minimal silent zones. If desired, it can easily be swapped for another fader or its direction of action reversed. But the handytraxx play's customization options are far from exhausted. The entire control panel can be mounted in the opposite direction, allowing the turntable to be converted from right- to left-handed operation. The specially designed tonearm was engineered to keep the needle on track without skipping, even during the wildest scratching. The redesigned headshell allows for the use of other ceramic or MM cartridges in addition to the factory-installed ceramic cartridge (basic soldering skills are required for switching to MM cartridges). Three different filter types are available for captivating live performances: The DJ filter seamlessly blends between low-pass and high-pass filters, the EQ filter with low isolator produces larger-than-life bass, and the peaking wah filter adds movement with experimental-sounding modulations. If that's not enough, the handytraxx play offers an excellent-sounding digital delay that can be controlled particularly intuitively thanks to its own vertical fader and can cover a wide range of effect sounds, from metallic-sounding echoes to typical ambient soundscapes. The features are rounded out by the integrated looper, which can be used to either record and fire short sample fragments or create entire beat loops that can continue forever. The latter is ideal for scratching over live , spontaneously extending a track based on the audience's reaction, or creating smooth transitions with just one turntable by changing records while the loop is running.
