The new Les Paul Custom is part of Epiphone’s Inspired by Gibson Collection and honors the 1950s classic designed by Mr. Les Paul himself in 1954 as the “tuxedo” version of his groundbreaking solid body masterpiece. Featuring the traditional Custom bound all-mahogany body, 60s SlimTaper™ neck profile, ebony fingerboard with block inlays, gold Epiphone LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece, a pair of critically acclaimed Epiphone ProBucker™ humbuckers, and Custom split-diamond inlay on the headstock. This Epiphone Inspired by Gibson model also has the 60s style Kalamazoo headstock, rolled neck for a comfortable feel, Graph Tech® NuBone® nut, era-appropriate wiring, and CTS® pots. Optional hardshell or EpiLite Case is available.

ProBucker™ humbucker Pickups

The classic "P.A.F" sound is closer than you think

Epiphone's ProBucker™ humbucker has quietly become one of the most talked about pickups in the industry. It has fooled experts, vintage purists, and even luthiers who have worked with the best vintage examples from the late 50s and early 60s. Epiphone ProBucker™ humbuckers are the real deal--made with 18% Nickel Silver unit bases and covers, the same alloy used by Gibson at the Kalamazoo factory when the humbucker was first invented. The use of Nickel Silver reduces the occurrence of eddy currents due to low conductivity and provides a more transparent and crisp output. The size and shape of the bobbins also has a great impact on tonal response. And the bobbins used on ProBucker™ pickups duplicate the size and shape of the gold standard in the industry, Gibson humbuckers. Epiphone ProBucker™ pickups also feature sand cast Alnico II magnets, high quality 4 conductor lead wire, and are vacuum wax potted to eliminate microphonics.

The Les Paul Custom made its debut in 1954 after the initial success of the Les Paul Goldtop. Mr. Les Paul himself wanted to convey to audiences that the solid body electric guitar was not a fad but a superb and challenging instrument and that his signature axe, the Les Paul, was the king of all electric solid body guitars. So, Les requested a Les Paul with a custom color finish in solid black and solid white with gold hardware that would blend well with a tuxedo.

The result was the Les Paul Custom, or the "tuxedo" Les Paul, as it became known among fans. The Les Paul Custom quickly became one of the most recognized guitars in the world and Les himself used his Les Paul Custom in concert, on his weekly television show with wife Mary Ford and on his album covers, including his famous duet with pal Chet Atkins, Chester and Lester.

Now with Epiphone's superior ProBucker humbucker pickups with coil-tapping along with the Custom's classic gold hardware, fully bound body, neck and headstock, and pearloid inlays, we think you'll agree that the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro is "dressed to kill."

Pros
- Service was perfect
- Once ordered the guitar arrived in a very reasonable time.
- All features worked on first test and work well
- Guitar sounds wonderful

Con
- After getting home I noticed that there was a small scuff near the head. Not sure if this occurred while in display at another shop but it did take away the feeling of a new 'out-of-the-box' guitar. Not sure if the demo model on showroom floor is also considered new. (I guess this negative point would not have bothered me if I had been informed that there was no new stock available and that the 1 that was available was a showroom demo.

- The pick-guard was already installed and I would have liked to have had the option whether or not I wanted it installed.
