Description
OctaMic II integrates an 8-channel 192 kHz / 24 bit conversion with eight high-quality microphone channels, equipped with the finest components and proven RME technology. The lowest distortion, outstanding signal-to-noise ratio and the most linear frequency response transmit and amplify microphone signals with absolutely no distortion and guarantee a genuine sound. Features OctaMic II offers 8 balanced mic/line inputs via XLR socket. Each channel has individually switchable phantom power (48V), impact sound filter and phase rotation. The gain can be changed in the range 6 to 60 dB. After activating the special clip hold mode and overloading is detected, the respective clip LED begins to flash once per second. Such a peak monitoring mode saves the user from having to constantly look at the clip LEDs. Nevertheless, all acute overloads continue to be displayed correctly. On the front there are, among other things, switches for power and the selection of the reference level, which can be selected between -10 dBV, +4 dBu and Hi gain (+19 dBu). This unusual feature offers two advantages. First of all, the reference level can be easily adapted to any current RME device, from the HDSP 9632 to the Multiface to the first-class converters of the ADI-8 series. Furthermore, the signal-to-noise ratio is optimized; the clip LED works exactly like that of the ADI-8 (2 dB below 0 dBFS). On the back, the microphone signals with symmetrical line level are available on 8 stereo jack sockets. The internal high-performance switching power supply specially developed for the OctaMic II works in the 100 V to 240 V AC range. It is short-circuit proof, has an integrated mains filter, completely regulates mains voltage fluctuations and suppresses mains interference. A/D conversion The OctaMic II 's 8-channel AD conversion supports up to 192 kHz sample frequency. The digitized signal is available simultaneously on a double ADAT output (S/MUX, up to 96 kHz) and on a 25-pin D-Sub socket (4 AES outputs, up to 192 kHz). The digital part can be synced internally (master) and externally by word clock, AES/EBU and SPDIF. RME's exceptional SteadyClock(TM) guarantees perfect AD conversion, as jitter on external sync sources is virtually completely eliminated. All settings are made via DIP switches on the back of the OctaMic II . Analogue and both digital outputs can be used at the same time. The choice of reference level only affects the analog output, signal/clip display and AD conversion only react to the gain potentiometers.

Properties
The OctaMic II offers the following improvements over the previous OctaMic: - The balanced jack inputs of the Neutrik Combo XLR socket are phantom voltage-free and are now full-fledged line inputs. The revised input stages offer a maximum input level of +21 dBu and a wide control range from 6 dB to 60 dB gain. - Improvement of the noise values of the analog/digital converters to 107.5 dB - Further improved THD values, especially at high gain values - Optimized heat dissipation thanks to a larger housing with improved convection - Extremely stable and short-circuit-proof 48 volt phantom voltage - Internal wide-range power supply with line filter, insensitive to voltage fluctuations The OctaMic II offers the following improvements over the previous OctaMic: - The symmetrical jack inputs of the Neutrik Combo XLR socket are phantom voltage-free and are now full-fledged line inputs.
