The R1 Active MKIII is a very cool microphone that combines the best of two worlds: the warmth of a ribbon and the stability of an F.E.T. buffer amp. This means you can use the R1 Active MkIII with long cables and virtually any preamp with 48V phantom power. In most cases, the R1 Active MKIII delivers a clean and clear, yet warm and powerful sound. We love it on drums, as an ambience mic, or in pairs for miking O.H., but it sounds great on most instruments. The R1 Active MKIII is indeed a very versatile microphone, even suitable for sensitive vocal recordings! Even more so since the MKIII version now includes switches for low cut and 10 dB pad.
