From the 1970’s Santa Cruz models that brought the ODS into the light, to later LA iterations in the ‘80s and ‘90s used on countless legendary sessions, Enigmatic ‘82 puts the sound of these fabled amps under your fingertips.

Build Your Own Boutique Amp in Custom Mode

Looking for that rare tone that’s entirely your own? Flip Enigmatic ‘82 into Custom mode and go under the hood to design your own unique ODS voice in the UAFX mobile app. Mix and match different amp modifications, from the FET preamp and HRM overdrive voicings, right down to the late ’80s Skyliner tone stack option, output tube bias and power supply stiffness, and more.

I am speechless

The dynamic of this device is just incredible. You can dial in one sound which isn’t a bit overdriven and add more gain with the second overdrive knob. The latter you can switch on / off with the foot switch. With the volume poti of your guitar you can go from crystal clean to singing lead sounds. Add may be another overdrive and compressor for variations and you are all set. I do not need more playing blues, rock, fusion. Highly recommended. What is not so great is the app and that you cannot see what the settings are in presets. Otherwise go for it.

Brand

Pioneering audio recording for more than 60 years. Founded in 1958 by Bill Putnam Sr., Universal Audio has been synonymous with innovative recording products since its inception. A favorite engineer of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and more, the late Bill Putnam Sr. was a passionate innovator who is widely regarded as the father of modern recording — with many of his legendary studio and equipment designs still in use today. Specifically, Putnam was the inventor of the modern recording console, the multi-band audio equalizer, and the vocal booth, and he was the first engineer to use artificial reverberation in commercial recording. Alongside his friend Les Paul, Putnam was also involved in the early development of stereophonic recording. Putnam, a natural entrepreneur, started three audio product companies during his long career: Universal Audio, Studio Electronics, and UREI. All three companies built equipment that remains widely used decades after their introduction, including the ubiquitous LA-2A and 1176 compressors, and the 610 tube recording console. The 610 console in particular stands as one of the most beloved designs in audio history, used to record everyone from Sinatra to the Beach Boys to Van Halen’s eponymous debut.
