Universal Audio SD-3X3 Dynamic Microphone Bundle with Hemisphere Modeling

Universal Audio’s SD-3X3 is a compact cardioid dynamic microphone set for drum and instrument recording featuring Hemisphere mic modeling technology, high SPL tolerance, and included accessories.

Description

Meet your new go-to mic bundle for snare, toms, or entire horn sections.
Easily capture drumsets and horn sections with Universal Audio’s SD-3X3 —a set of three classic dynamic mics with high SPL handling, cardioid polar patterns, and best-in-class Hemisphere mic modeling giving you pro sounds in any environment.

Record Through Workhorse Mics
The SD-3X3 mic bundle is powered by the same mic modeling technology found in Universal Audio’s award-winning UA Sphere microphones. With the included Hemisphere Mic Collection, it’s the only modeling mic bundle that gives you the authentic sound of famous dynamics from Shure, Sennheiser, and Audix.

Modeling Mics That Work for You
The SD-3X3 mic bundle and included Hemisphere Mic Collection plug-in work with or without UA hardware, and go way beyond subtle EQ curves to give you precise control over filter, proximity, and axis —an industry first. Just set up SD-3 mics in front of your source and usethe plug-in to find that “sweet spot” for a brass instrument, or tame harsh frequencies on snare drums and toms.

Easily Capture Your Best Sounds
Universal Audio fine-tuned the cardioid polar pattern on SD-3X3 mics for a wide range of environments. Whether it's your bedroom, project, or pro studio —or even the stage —their ultra-high SPL tolerance and exceptional isolation give you iconic "sit-in-the-mix" sounds heard on countless hits. Plus, their compact size lets you zone in for perfect mic placement in tight spaces.

Add a Pro Mic with Vintage Style
With all-metal construction, retro fit and finish, and hand-selected capsules, the SD-3X3 mic bundle stands apart from other "workhorse dynamics" —giving you a trusted partner, perfect for capturing nearly any type of drum set or backline instrument.

Brand

Pioneering audio recording for more than 60 years. Founded in 1958 by Bill Putnam Sr., Universal Audio has been synonymous with innovative recording products since its inception. A favorite engineer of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and more, the late Bill Putnam Sr. was a passionate innovator who is widely regarded as the father of modern recording — with many of his legendary studio and equipment designs still in use today. Specifically, Putnam was the inventor of the modern recording console, the multi-band audio equalizer, and the vocal booth, and he was the first engineer to use artificial reverberation in commercial recording. Alongside his friend Les Paul, Putnam was also involved in the early development of stereophonic recording. Putnam, a natural entrepreneur, started three audio product companies during his long career: Universal Audio, Studio Electronics, and UREI. All three companies built equipment that remains widely used decades after their introduction, including the ubiquitous LA-2A and 1176 compressors, and the 610 tube recording console. The 610 console in particular stands as one of the most beloved designs in audio history, used to record everyone from Sinatra to the Beach Boys to Van Halen’s eponymous debut.
