Neumann is pleased to announce RIME . RIME – Reference Immersive Monitoring Environment – is a DAW plug-in for monitoring immersive content with Neumann headphones. Immersive sound is the new standard. Streaming services favor content that can be consumed in immersive formats. More and more DAWs such as Pro Tools, Pyramix, Logic, Cubase, and Nuendo now support Dolby Atmos. Users are eager to try out these new features and want to create songs and soundscapes on an unlimited 3D canvas. With the KH series of studio monitors and MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment with Multichannel Extension, Neumann already offers reference solutions for immersive monitoring in the control room. However, many music and filmmakers, sound engineers, and creative professionals desire a more cost-effective and mobile solution. The answer is RIME – Reference Immersive Monitoring Environment. Single Source of Truth RIME is a DAW plug-in that allows users to monitor stereo, surround, and immersive formats up to 7.1.4 on headphones, finally creating immersive content from anywhere. Unlike other solutions, RIME is specifically tailored to the Neumann NDH 20 and NDH 30 headphones, incorporating their unique acoustic properties and exceptional manufacturing precision. The result is a reliable, uncolored soundstage with razor-sharp three-dimensional imaging. RIME utilizes groundbreaking AMBEO algorithms and was developed using Neumann technology throughout: KH-series monitors and subwoofers were installed in a dedicated reference room and fine-tuned by our acoustic experts using MA 1 with Multichannel Extension. This state-of-the-art setup was binaurally captured using the legendary Neumann KU 100 dummy head connected to the MT 48 audio interface with superior preamps and converters. While other solutions confuse users with a multitude of virtual rooms, each providing a different impression, RIME offers a single, high-quality reference room as a single source of truth. This enables reliable monitoring that translates seamlessly to all playback systems. For even more authentic results, RIME supports OSC-compatible head trackers to create a listening experience that responds to head movements. In addition to surround and immersive monitoring RIME RIME can also be used for stereo playback to create a speaker-like listening experience without the in-head localization typical of headphones. This allows users to check their mixes for speaker compatibility. RIME is available as a VST3/AU/AAX plug-in (Mac and PC) for all major DAWs.
