EarthQuaker Devices Special Cranker Boost / Medium-Gain Overdrive

The EarthQuaker Devices Special Cranker is an all-analog overdrive pedal specifically designed to give the signal a rich boost and nice distortion without changing the sound too drastically. The pedal preserves the natural sound and character of your own equipment and works more like an additional preamp tube that provides nice saturation. Individual notes are perfectly emphasized with a singing sustain and harmonic overtones. Power chords sound fatter and crisper, and complex chords remain defined and transparent as the Special Cranker the integrity of the sound without 'muddying' the low end or lower mids. The Special Cranker has the same dynamic character as the popular EarthQuaker Devices Speaker Cranker, but offers more gain, twice the output volume, an additional tone control for shaping the sound character, and a diode selector switch that switches between the original asymmetric silicon diodes and a new option with germanium diodes. The gain range of the More control ranges from almost clean to a medium-gain overdrive, while the selected clipping diodes have a direct influence on the character of the gain range: the germanium diodes deliver a softer, more pleasing sound with more subtle highs and less output. The silicon diodes offer more highs, a more modern character with more 'bite' and a higher output. Both settings react perfectly to the dynamics in the game and offer excellent transparency. The Tone knob controls the treble range and the Level knob determines the output volume of the pedal.
