Roland V51 Sound Module

The V51 is the control center of the V-Drums 5 series and sets a new standard for electronic drum modules of the medium price range. It uses the same high-quality engine as the top model V71 and offers detailed DW multi-layer-sample-based drum kits, integrated tools for practicing and performing, and extensive expansion options in the Roland Cloud. The intuitive user interface allows for fast and creative work, while the wireless connectivity options combined with smartphone app integration offer limitless possibilities when playing, practicing and personalizing sounds.

The V51 module is part of an overarching ecosystem, which also includes the V71 and V31. For the first time, the V-Drums modules are fully compatible with each other. This means you use the same sound base as the V-Drums 7 series. In addition, the V-Drums content from the Roland Cloud continuously offers new inspiration, including the detailed V-Drums instrument expansions based on high-quality DW drum sets.

In the course of the development of the V71 module for the renowned V-Drums 7 series, we have created a completely new internal sound library together with Drum Workshop (DW), which enables an unprecedented degree of realism and creative control in the V-Drums world. The V51 module has the same engine as the V71 and offers identical sounds and extension options in a compact format. Based on a hand-picked selection of the world’s best drum sets, the ready-to-record sounds convince with a detail, assertiveness and sound quality that can otherwise only be found in the most expensive software collections for the computer.

You can completely replace soundsets in the V51 module to make your music varied. Simply open the Roland Cloud Connect app on your mobile device and access a growing collection of V-Drums Instrument Expansion titles wirelessly. Once you have found the desired sounds, you can download them directly to the module and start playing immediately.

As with the best drum sound libraries for the computer, the V51 relies on multi-layer sample playback and the round-robin random procedure for a natural sound without the infamous "machine-gun effect." The sounds are cut by the proprietary Roland Behavior Modeling, which makes it possible to make flowing, artifact-free transitions between articulations and more than 16,000 dynamic variations available on our digital pads.

In the Roland Cloud you will always find new inspiration for your drumming. With the V-Drums Instrument Expansions, you can expand your module with new drum kits that have been included with the same detail as the kits of the integrated library. Up to six extensions can be active at the same time. You can freely replace kicks, snares, pelvis and other components between the individual kits. In addition, the V-Drums Kit Packs are ready, which were developed in collaboration with top drummers and producers. Many of the packs offer detailed replicas of famous kits used in some of the most influential songs of all time.

The kits in the module are individually tailored and ready to play immediately. If you prefer to go into detail, you will find everything your heart desires in the extensive processing tools. Thus, every drum and every cymbal can be virtually adjusted like an acoustic instrument – from the head type to the damping and tuning of the snare carpet to the distance of the microphones and much more. And if you want to get even deeper, simply start the V51 editor and can use numerous tools in full screen mode on your Mac or Windows computer.

The V51 offers a variety of professional tools for sound processing based on the powerful DSP engine. Shape each drum instrument down to the smallest detail and use EQs and transient processors for the individual sound layers as well as EQ and compressor for the overall sound. Work the entire kit like a sound engineer in the studio with vintage and modern multi-effects, reverb and more. With the folding-based ambience tools and the resonance options for overhead, space and kit, you can create everything - from the realistic sound impression directly at the playing position to the immersive atmosphere of different rooms.

Whether you need a certain sound for a cover song or want to give your samples an individual touch, the V51 makes everything possible. With the sample import function, you can customize your sound palette and create every desired sound. Three layers are available per pad assigned, which can contain any combination of internal sounds and/or external samples.

The V51 has an integrated Roland wireless adapter that you can connect to your Wi-Fi. After that, you can use the Roland Cloud Connect app on your mobile device to directly access, preview and download the sound content. In addition, you can update the module wirelessly to play with the latest system software at any time. Furthermore, Bluetooth Audio/MIDI is available to jam to songs on your smartphone, play video lessons and more.
