Description
When designing the microphone, care was taken not only to ensure that it was a complement to the M80 (the first dynamic microphone from TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik), but also that it stood out from the crowd of other dynamic microphones.
Since the M80 was first introduced in 2008, it has quickly developed into a hit; in both live and studio environments. Thanks to the clear and detailed sound in the high range, the articulated mids and the minimal proximity effect, the microphone has conquered the hearts (and especially the ears) of thousands of new users, making it the microphone of first choice, especially for vocal and drum applications.
Based on the outstanding properties of the M80, the TELEFUNKEN M81 also has the same minimal proximity effect, superior feedback shielding and a very clear and distinct midrange. In the upper treble range, the reproduction of the M81 has been slightly reduced so that the microphone has a more even and smoother frequency response. As a result, with the M81 you get a microphone with a clear and soft sound, which is ideal for lighter vocals and guitars, percussion and brass.
The tailor-made frequency response of the TELEFUNKEN M81 also makes this microphone an outstanding choice for electric guitars, percussion, drum toms and brass instruments. The large area of application and the stable and reliable design make it a workhorse for a whole new generation. With the same finish of the tube body and the chrome-plated capsule protector as the RFT AR-51, the M81 can be easily recognized immediately. Much of the basics of the AR-51 were used in the design of the M81.
Great care was taken in tuning the M81 to make it comparable to the AR-51, especially when recording electric guitars. In general, one can say that the design of the M81 is especially suitable for ..., well actually for all areas of application. It really is a universal dynamic microphone.
